The next summer school was organized for student volunteers of legal clinics

The summer school, organized within the framework of the project “Strengthening the rule of law and protection of human rights in Uzbekistan”, concluded between the United Nations Development Program, the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was held on the topic “Providing primary legal assistance to victims of domestic and sexual violence."

The summer school was attended by 26 students from six higher educational institutions (TSUL, UWED, Legal Clinic of Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, Legal Clinic of Termez State University, Legal Clinic of Namangan State University, Legal Clinic of Andijan State University).

Besides, in order to increase the level of professional training in the legal field by developing skills in working with appeals, during the trainings, special attention was paid to developing skills in working with appeals of various categories of citizens (youth, women, victims of oppression and violence, the elderly, disabled people), developing the skills of students to provide free legal assistance to individuals; creating opportunities for systematic dialogue among students, changes in legislation, in particular, increasing the knowledge and skills of students in providing primary legal assistance to victims of family (domestic) and gender-based violence, receiving and providing free legal advice to women subjected to discrimination and other illegal treatment.

The trainings helped strengthen students' practical knowledge of receiving citizens, analyzing their applications, providing them with free legal advice and preparing draft legal documents.
