As outlined in the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 24, 2024, "On Further Increasing Responsibility and Establishing a Compact Management System for Justice Agencies and Institutions as Part of Administrative Reforms," a key initiative has been the introduction of the "School-Lyceum-College-University" system for training legal professionals. This includes organising "Legal Classes" in schools to facilitate the in-depth study of legal subjects.
Additionally, the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution of August 27, 2024, "On Measures to Implement a Continuous Legal Education System in State Educational Institutions and Enhance the Legal Culture and Literacy of Minors," tasked the Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, to begin phased instruction in "Foundations of State and Law" starting in the 2024/2025 academic year. This involves creating "Legal Classes" in general education schools, supported by modern visual aids and teaching materials.
To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Justice, in partnership with Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL), has established "Legal Classes" in schools across all districts and cities of the country. These classes have been equipped with essential visual aids and textbooks.
In November, university professors visited various regions to conduct legal literacy lessons aimed at ensuring the continuity of legal education and raising the legal awareness of young people.
During these visits, the current state of "Legal Classes" in schools was assessed. Suggestions and recommendations were provided to address identified challenges and shortcomings, ensuring the effective implementation of this important initiative.
