A round table discussion on this topic was held at Tashkent State University of Law.
The event, organized at the initiative of the Department of Constitutional Law of Tashkent State University of Law, was attended by Deputy Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights Bekzod Narimanov, Director of the Rule of Law Centre of the University of Helsinki of Finland Tuija Brax, Deputy Chancellor of Justice of Finland Mikko Puumalainen, teachers, researchers and practicing specialists.
The round table discussion discussed the role of the Ombudsman institution in protecting human rights in Uzbekistan, the rights of citizens to legislative initiative in Finland, as well as the role of the Ombudsman institution in ensuring the rule of law with an emphasis on the experience of Finland.
The events discussed the processes and prospects for the development of the Ombudsman institution in both countries, problems in this area and international trends in ensuring human rights.
In addition, the meeting proposed recommendations for expanding international cooperation in the field of human rights protection, strengthening the role of the ombudsman institution and developing scientific research in this area.
