December 18 – Car-Free Day

In accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 21, 2024, "On the State Program for the Implementation of the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy in the 'Year of Youth Support and Entrepreneurship,'" a public initiative titled "Car-Free Day" will take place on December 18 in Tashkent. This initiative, proposed by representatives of the public and eco-activists, is aimed at reducing the use of personal vehicles (excluding public transport, special, and emergency services) in Tashkent for one working day each month in order to minimize the negative environmental impact of car emissions.

As part of the "Car-Free Day" public initiative, all senior officials and employees of republican and local executive bodies located in Tashkent are instructed to set an example by commuting to work using public transportation.
