The Central Asian Legal Research Fellowship (CALR) programme was established at Tashkent State University of Law as part of the implementation of Presidential Decrees No. PF-5987 and No. PF-232 of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The programme aims to strengthen the University's position in international rankings, particularly by supporting its strategy to enter the top 1,000 institutions in the Law subject area of the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Its other key objectives include increasing the number of research publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, improving citation performance, and enhancing the University's international research visibility.
The CALR programme has been consistently implemented since 2022. It promotes collaborative legal research between local researchers and scholars from leading foreign higher education institutions.
The programme includes the organisation of the International Legal Research Forum, as well as academic seminars, training sessions and masterclasses. These activities are designed to strengthen the research capacity of doctoral students, undergraduate and graduate students, and early-career academics, develop their research skills, and foster international academic cooperation.
Each programme season brings together representatives of leading universities from the United Kingdom, Germany, Slovenia, Türkiye, Egypt, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. This provides opportunities for academic exchange, the expansion of international partnerships and the development of collaborative research projects.
