How to increase the status of advocates in criminal proceedings

The international round table "Lawyer in criminal proceedings: new approaches" was successfully completed. At the event, Deputy Minister of Justice – rector of TSUL Rahim Khakimov and International Coordinator of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Kun Markvering made welcoming remarks.

Following experts pointed the problems in the work of a criminal lawyers and described possible ways to overcome them:

S. Azimov – Prosecutor General’s Office; A.Sharafutdinov – the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;

D.Mirazov – the Military-Technical Institute of the National Guard;

D.Turdaliev – the Chamber of Advocates;

R. Toshboev – the Tashkent Regional Court on Criminal Cases;

A.Holterhoff – UNODC;

G.Klemenchich – the "Regional Dialogue" INGO.

 Suggestions and recommendations will be taken into account in the work on the new version of the Criminal Procedural Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was organized by the UN office on drugs and crime in cooperation with the Department of Criminal Procedural Law and Criminalistics of the Tashkent State University of Law.
